They climbed the two highest peaks of the continent - Kilimanjaro and Kenya. Today we invite you to read the report on the ascent to the peaks of the Kenya massif. Many thanks to the authors for the unique work! In this report, you can find a lot of interesting, useful and unique information, described in a lively, easily accessible form. Mount Kenya is not a frequently visited object and there is not much information, including technical information. Their report on Kilimanjaro can be viewed here: http://www.7vershin.ru/newssections/all_1/newssection_156_1/item_4339/ December 2013 Mount Kenya expedition report. Natalia and Igor Smirnov. Guide Alexander Lastochkin. Mount Kenya ... We read somewhere that despite the status of the "second" moun  Handrails in Kenya tain in Africa, in terms of significance for real climbers, this is African mountain No. 1. And although we are real climbers with a clearly touristic bias, we simply could not get past Mount Kenya. Did you know that Mount Kenya is: • The second highest peak in Africa, but the beauty, impressiveness and diversity of the landscape is hardly inferior to the famous Kilimanjaro. • A mountain that has it all - glaciers, trekking and climbing trails, picturesque landscapes, interesting flora and fauna. Mount Kenya has three main peaks - Batian (5199m), Nelion (5188m) and Point Lenana (4950m). There are more than 20 routes on Mount Kenya - from simple trekking to the most difficult rock climbing. • A rare opportunity to combine exciting trekking and real technical rock climbing and crossing glaciers in one expedition. In addition, the maximum height of the peaks is almost 5200 m, which makes it possible to make a real climbing ascent. This makes it possible to unite in a group for those who are new to the mountains and experienced climbers. • Stratovolcano. In addition to Batian and Nelion, it has a bunch of peaks, which are called minor in the descriptions, for example, Point Pigott (4957 m) and Point John (4883 m). The height of such “secondary” peaks is more than Mont Blanc, however. There is where to climb. From the foot to the top of the mountain there are 8 different natural zones. We personally saw on the mountain plants and animals characteristic of this area, such as the giant lobelia and the Cape hyrax (gopher, in our opinion). The routes for approaching the peaks - Naro Moru, Sirimon and Chogoria - are diverse in landscape, picturesque and, most importantly, unlike Kili, not crowded. This allows you to fully enjoy the contemplation of the wild African mountain nature. Moreover, all the cargo of the expedition and the personal belongings of the climbers are carried by porters. Mount Kenya, or rather, its peak Point Lenana is also famous for the fact that on the way to it there is the highest mountain via-ferrata in the world. The ascent to Point Lenana is not difficult at all, but for the safety of climbers, iron railings are also hung here. Point Lenana offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys, Nelion Peak and its rock wall. https://tonaton.co.ke/s_165-handrails
